Teaser Tuesday

Teaser Tuesdays are hosted by MizB at Should Be Reading.

Here are the rules:
  • Grab your current read
  • Open to a random page
  • Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
  • BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
  • Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!
Well, it's been AGES since I participated in this awesome meme, and hopefully, I can get back in the swing of things bringing you guys snippets of some great books.  :o)

This week, I'm featuring The Mark of Salvation by Carol Umberger.  This is book 3 in her Scottish Crown series, and let me just tell ya....these are some GREAT books!!  I don't typically venture out to read Scottish, Irish, or English history, but when I find some books that are great, I just can't seem to get enough of them.  That's what's happened with this series.  Obviously, I highly recommend all of them, even though I've only read the first 2 thus far.  :o)

Here's my teaser from page 37:

"She sobbed as she found the silver chain beneath John's surcoat.  Gently she lifted his head, removed the precious cross and wrapped her fingers tighty around it.  Orelia clung to it, held it to her own chest as she fought waves of despair and anger at John for leaving her like this."

Oh, I just can't wait for more!!  Be sure to visit MizB for lots more great teasers today!  :o)

My teaser this week comes from Gingham Mountain by Mary Connealy which is book 3 in her Lassoed in Texas series. Let me just tell ya, this is a GREAT series!! If you're looking for some books that will just having you laughing for the longest time, then look no further! :o)

From page 17:

"It's very much my business if children are being exploited."

"Exploited?" Grant erupted, but then he caught hold of his temper. He didn't calm down for the prissy female. He did it for the children. They didn't need to start out their life watching their enw pa throw a pitched fit at a young woman, no matter how bad-mannered and misinformed that woman might be.

Click here for more information about Gingham Mountain.
Thanks for stopping by!

It's been awhile since I participated in Teaser Tuesday, and today, I've got a great teaser to share with you. It's from the latest book by Ted Dekker and Erin Healy--Burn.

From page 226:

"During her visit to his hospital room, she had the upper hand of surprise and the secuirty of a guard within range of her voice. But now she was an injured bird knocked out of her nest to be stalked by a snake."

This week, my teaser comes from page 42 of Leaving Carolina by Tamara Leigh.

"At first look, the entryway appears as grand as ever with its far-flung walls and soaring ceiling. But at second look, it's tired like an old woman dressed in all her finery that, on closer inspection, reveals her shawl is pulled and yellowed, the folds of her skirt are rimmed with dust, and her slippers are worn."

Be watching in the coming weeks for a review of this very Southern book!

My teaser this week comes from page 75 of If Only You Knew by Mags Storey.

"Now the problem with flirting is it involves being kind of...well...subtle. You end up making these little half-statements and hoping the other person is able to read between the lines and catch on to what you are actually trying to say. So, as I went around showing Kevin the rest of the store--looking at the terrifyingly filthy toilet, and the small back room that looked like a hurricane had sweept through it--I was having a really hard time telling if he was actually interested in me, or just naturally slightly incoherent."

My teaser this week comes from page 138 of Sunset Beach by Trish Perry:

"Melanie's heart ached for Sonny. She didn't know when she had seen anyone so tense while sitting in a comfy beach chair. By the ocean. On a gorgeous afternoon."

I just got this book a few days ago in the mail, and while I've never read anything by Trish Perry, I've heard lots of great things about her. And doesn't the cover of this book just make you wanna take a trip to the beach...it's simply breathtaking to me! :o)

My teaser is from page 52 of In the Shadow of Lions by Ginger Garrett.

"It was a cold rain the day she got off the ship and it rained still--at least in her soul--a sour rain that could cause nothing to grow. Perhaps soon she would be finished here, the family's name restored, and she would sleep beside Percy every night. Her small act of rebellion, bringing a forbidden book into the country, had gone unnoticed."

Teaser Tuesday

I'm so late getting my teaser up today, but better late than never! Many thanks to MizB at Should Be Reading for hosting Teaser Tuesdays every week. :o)

Here's the rules:
  1. Grab your current read.
  2. Let the book fall open to a random page.
  3. Share two teaser sentences from that page, somewhere between lines 7 and 12.
  4. Share the title of the book that the “teaser” comes from ~ so people can find the book if they like the teaser.
  5. And remember – AVOID SPOILERS!!
My teaser is from page 96 of Mohamed's Moon:

"No matter who you are, there's one thing you're going to do: old, young, middle-aged, wealthy, poor, gifted, intelligent, dull, it doesn't matter; you are going to die. And there's nothing you can do to prevent that."

Well, it's a little depressing...but certainly true. Be watching later on this week for a review of this book. :o)

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

*Grab your current read
*Open to a random page
*Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
*BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)

________________________________

Well, I'm gonna have to cheat just a little bit. I've got a great teaser, but it's several little bitty sentences, and there's no way that 2 of them will get the point across. But trust me, I think you might like it even if it's about 7 sentences instead of 2. :o)

My teaser is from A Steal of a Deal by Ginny Aiken. This is book 2 in the Shop-Til-U-Drop Series.

Then my stomach growls--head-to-toe blush time.

Aunt Weeby and Miss Mona laugh.

"Hungry?" Robert asks.

Embarrassed, that's what. Can you imagine? I come to this incredible place, and my very mundane, lowbrow belly decides to tell everyone I'm dying to stuff my face. Good grief.

I'm loving this series! If you're interested, I have a review of book 1, Priced to Move, posted here.

Teaser Tuesday

Teaser Tuesdays are hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. The rules are pretty simple, if you decide you'd like to participate!

So, my teaser this week will be from page 43 of The Justice Game by Randy Singer. I plan to start on this one later on tonight, and I know it's gonna be fabulous! Watch for it to be released later on this month!

"As was his custom, Jason came bearing a large pizza--half meat-lovers and half cheese--an order of spicy chicken wings, bleu cheese, a six pack of beer and a bottle of Diet Coke. The beer, wings, and meat-lover side of the pizza were all for Lassiter, a string bean of a man whose metabolism was off the charts. Jason had never seen Lassiter exercise, but his brain cells alone probably burned more calories than most people entire bodies."

Also, be watching in the next few weeks for a review of this book here on my blog. :o)

  • Open to a random page

Okay, here's my teaser from my current read, The Voice, by Bill Myers:

"Iserson waited until they were no longer the room's center of attention. Waited, but did not back down. "Now you sound like the Christians." He smiled, though there was no amusement in his voice. "Those who demand nonstop mercy so they can enjoy nonstop sinning."

Wow, talk about a sucker punch teaser!!! The Voice is book one in the Angel of Wrath series by Bill Myers. Book two, Angel of Wrath, was recently released, and I'll be featuring it on my blog in the very near future. Stay tuned!

Here's my teaser (I have to put 4 instead of 2 here to complete the whole thought):

I kissed him, tasted salt on my lips. "You honor me by being my wife and staying here through all that has happened. But we're as different as flowers and bees. You bloom vibrant while I, I just want to slip by, have a taste, but never stay long enough to be noticed."

That teaser is from page 31 of A Tendering in the Storm by Jane Kirkpatrick. I posted last week on my Tuesday Teaser a few sentences from the first book in this series. I have thoroughly been enjoying both books, and should be on book 3 by the end of the week. :o)

Teaser Tuesday

It's time for another Tuesday Teaser hosted by MizB at Should Be Reading. Here are the rules:

So.....here's my teaser from page 65 of A Clearing in the Wild by Jane Kirkpatrick:

"Silence filled the church, a place I now thought our leader had chosen for special reasons. Usually our gatherings were at Elim, not in this sacred space. To defy him here, to disagree with the way he saw the world he'd define as blasphemous, would take strong courage."

I will admit that I'm a touch nervous about this book since I've read several mixed reviews. This is the second book for me by this author, and I'll admit that I wasn't doing cartwheels over the first one. However, everyone deserves a second chance, so I'm hoping this one will turn out much better. :o)

Teaser Tuesday

TEASER TUESDAYS is a weekly event, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading, where you ‘tease’ others with a little bit from the book you’re currently reading, making them want to read it, too! Feel free to play along! You just…

Here's my teaser (sorry, I had to choose 3 sentences):

"So I don't understand it....why you have no husband. Is there something wrong with your teeth? Papa says people do not buy horses or cows that have bad teeth or feet."
