New Furniture!!

I am bouncing off the wall today!! I have been wanting some new living room furniture for quite some time, and my wish finally came true. Our old furniture was getting pretty tired, too. We bought it from some friends right after we got married, which was 7 years ago.

Here's the old (burgundy) and the new (tan)...big difference, huh?!?!

Book Review: The Red Siren by MaryLu Tyndall

About the book:

Faith Westcott, a fiery redhead, is a lady by day and a pirate by night. How long can she maintain this dual identity before she's caught red handed? Dajon Waite, who scours the Carolina coast, expunging it of pirates and smugglers, is a more-than-capable captain in the British Royal Navy. But when asked to take on the guardianship of Faith and her two sisters, he finds himself in deep water. Having vowed to avoid women, what will he do when he begins falling for Faith? Can the all-consuming love of a godly captain redeem a not-so-ladylike pirate?

My thoughts:

I love to read books about strong, confident women. Faith Westcott is definitely such a women, and strength, confidence, and determination are all necessary traits considering the fact that she's a pirate. Right at the beginning, she takes command of a ship, The Red Siren, and makes it her own, not realizing the disgrace that will soon befall the ship's former captain. All that she can see is that it is up to her to provide for her sisters so that they're aren't all married off to horrible, greedy men. Faith father also intends to marry her off to such a man, Sir Wilhelm, and she must to everything she can to stop that from happening.

The romance in this book is packed with intensity! Some of the scenes between Faith and Dajon just made my heart start fluttering, and reminded me very much of Julie Lessman's books which are also full of passionate scenes. I'm loving the fact that more and more of this type of writing is becoming more common in Christian fiction. It's okay to have passionate scenes between couples without stepping over the line, and as long as it's presented tastefully, I say bring it on!

I would highly recommend this book if you like good historical fiction with a great romance. MaryLu Tyndall is quickly becoming a favorite of mine after reading one of her other novels, The Falcon and the Sparrow. Looks like I need to pull out her first pirate series....I doubt they disappoint!

September Searchings

I always wonder how people get to my blog. Most of the time, visitors are followers. Then, other times, they arrive from other websites. But what about all the rest?

Back several months ago, I caught a post somewhere where someone was wondering this same thing. She did a monthly recap of search terms that caused people to arrive at her blog. Some were just down right hilarious! She credited Google Analytics with getting her these results. (On a side note, if you don't have your blog/website set up with them, I highly recommend it.)

Starting this month, I'm going to start doing a blog post about this detailing the previuos month's search terms. While it may sound boring at first, a few of these just make me laugh! I hope you'll enjoy last month's September Searchings!
